An attractive amulet showing Mars (?) and Minerva

ASIA MINOR. Uncertain. Amulet (Lead, 25 mm, 5.92 g, 12 h), circa 3rd-5th centuries. Helmeted and cuirassed bust to the right, holding spear and shield; to right, large branch; all within a border composed of two concentric circles decorated with diagonal lines. Rev. Athena/Minerva standing left, resting her right hand on shield set on ground and holding spear in her left; to left and right, trees; all within a border composed of three concentric circles decorated with diagonal lines. An interesting and unusual piece. Good very fine.

The portrait on the obverse may be an imperial portrait or the war god Mars, whereas the decorated border indicates this piece was intended as an amulet
